Has anyone been white water rafting in New Mexico?

I’m thinking of trying it out for the 1st time while in New Mexico next week. Was it worth while and how much did it cost? How far were these spots from any of these 3 cities I will be visiting:
ABQ, Santa Fe, and/or Taos?

Pecos River, not far from Las Vegas, NM. Went up when I was a kid. It’s kind of tame but it’s beautiful and the trout fishing is awesome, too.

We went rafting in Taos from a company based in Santa Fe. You drive up in a van with a few other people and they take you to the spot on the Rio Grande. The drive from SF to the spot is about 45 minutes but its a beautiful drive. We (my sisters and my husband and I) all went and it was so so so fun. The guides were super nice and really helpful. It was pretty fast but not too bad. We all has to paddle. But that was fun, too. I recommend it. I think it was about $50/person. Afterward we (my family) drove the short distance to the city of Taos and had a fabulous lunch on the plaza. Great day. ABQ is a quick hour from Santa Fe to the north and Taos is maybe 1.25 hours from Santa Fe to the north. When in SF eat at Tomasitas for a red chilie cheese enchilada and a margarita. (My favorite restaurant)

The real ride is just up north in Colorado’s “Royal Gorge”. It is one of the only rivers running this time of year. Here is a video clip to get you amped!

There is rafting on the Rio Grande near Taos, NM. This time of year the water is lower and the commercial runs are limited to the Race Course section near Pilar, NM. Some companies offer inflateable kayaks you can paddle yourself, for the more adventurous types. If you go with a Taos based company you will spend less time on the shuttle.

Also I would go in the morning to avoid the seasonal afternoon showers.

Some good respectable companies are:
Far Flung Adventures
Los Rios River Runners
Native Sons
Big River

Sorry a bit late in the response here.
