Photo Vacation?

If you’re going east, get a lot of pictures of the mountains. I’m in the middle of them, but have trouble capturing their beauty (plus I’m surrounded by a city). The best time would be when mist is rising from them. March would be a great time for that.
I try to do a 10 day trip every year and hike like a wildman … I even take my 4×5 view camera with me …. Yikes!
There is one area I hiked that was my favorite. The whole of southern Utah is an amazing place to shoot.

You will love the 4 corners area, where AZ, NM, UT, and CO meet. Bryce canyon, Zion, Royal Gorge, southern part of the Continental Divide, even the touristy stuff built around ancient indian ruins are great.
The painted desert, petrified forest, Mesa Verde NP, Arches NPand most of the area between I-40, and I-70.
Taos, NM (Kit Carson) is an excellent stop, with lots of galleries. Carson and Santa Fe. Garden of the gods, Pikes Peak. You can spend months wandering the area, and finding something different at each stop.

there is too much to shoot in one trip. Santa Fe is a great place to shoot, been there and didn’t even scratch the surface.
Don’t forget places like Colorado, especially the moutains. The view at the top of Pike’s Peak is amazing–although a little scary. lol
NM and AZ are good places, too….I remember seeing cool stuff while driving down the freeway in those areas. What I remember most was the artwork on the bridges and walls. It was so weird to see how the bridges had stuff carved into the columns….I’d never seen that before.
Anyway, if you’re looking for interesting places to photograph, why not go to a bookstore or look online for those things?
I’m in agreement with PhotoAce and PhotoGuy if you’re headed west! Sorry don’t know enough about Savannah or Tenn. to be any help over there.
The iconic area in Northern Arizona would be the slot canyons around Page, AZ
In Southern Arizona I love Organ Pipe National Monument.
I live in the Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument located in Southern Utah. I totally recommend it.
