I’d like to see Sedona,AZ & Santa Fe, NM & Zion Nat’l Park & 4 corners. Best way to see?

santa fe vacation
tami b asked:

I don’t know if that is possible to do in 1 week and still be relaxing. Should I see just a couple of those places per 1 week of vacation, and which ones do you recommend? Any times that are NOT good to see any of those places? What months are best to visit? Should we rent an RV or something, or is that unneccessary? Just want any tips on how to plan for that type of trip. Would be coming from Seattle area.

one week is not enough time. they are to far apart to really get to each and have enough time to really enjoy.
Sedona, Grand Canyon and Santa Fe are best bets. Rent a car and motels/hotels are more reasonable in the off season…Nov thru April.
Fly to and from Phoenix.
4 corners hasn’t much to see and a lot of souvenir and Indian jewelery sales. Zion is good but again you cant see it all due to travel time.
Go Phoenix, Sedona, Grand Canyon, Phoenix.
Possibly if enough time see the Hoover Dam.
Enjoy

I would break it into 2 trips. First trip would be Zion and the 4 corners. However, you can’t just see Zion - you have to see the other 4 National Parks in southern Utah. They are fabulous!! Some of the best in the entire US. They are: Bryce, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef and Arches. See these sites:
There isn’t a lot to do and see at 4 corners but it’s kind of cool to do once. This trip is best taken in the Spring or
Fall. Summer can be very hot in southern Utah and would seriously limit hiking in the parks.

Now trip #2: do Santa Fe and Sedona. It’s about a 6 hour drive between the two and you can also see the Grand Canyon, Painted Desert and Petrified Forest in Arizona and while you are in New Mexico you can take in Bandelier National Park and also Chaco Canyon. Two wonderful trips of about a week each.
I would probably rent an RV for the first one for sure. Get a much better feel for the area and you could stay in the parks. Here are some sites for trip #2:

This trip can be taken anytime of the year. If you go in the winter (after December and through March) you may encounter snow in Santa Fe. I would recommend either late Spring or early Fall for this trip.
Good luck and have fun!!

I have seen all four of your sites, and did so by automobile during spring months of the year. I had no restriction on time, but if you’re stuck with a week I’d suggest lumping Zion and Se dona together. Se dona’s color is worth looking over from different angles. Both are camera friendly!

Four corners and Santa Fe could easily be worked into another week. You’ll want to spend considerable time in Santa Fe, although you may feel it a bit remote to get to. I’ve been there in both spring and fall; the views are superb!. They have some splendid museums, and just driving around the city seeing the quaint architecture is a thrill in itself. Take a good camera to all places!
